Project Overview

This project involves the redevelopment of a substantial residential plot within a picturesque Northamptonshire village, where Oracle Architects have been appointed to deliver a bespoke new-build family home from inception through to construction. Working across RIBA Stages 0–5, the scheme replaces an existing 5-bedroom dwelling with a new 6-bedroom residence and a detached triple garage, carefully positioned within a generous landscaped setting.

The design has been conceived as a collection of simple, pitched volumes that break down the house’s overall mass and respond to the scale and character of the surrounding village. Rather than a singular monolithic form, the building reads as a series of connected elements, creating a more considered and contextual presence on the site. Large areas of glazing are introduced throughout to maximise natural light and establish a strong visual connection to the gardens and wider landscape, while the overall composition balances openness with a sense of solidity and permanence.

From the outset, the ambition has been to create a long-term family home that feels both contemporary and grounded in its setting. The material palette has been carefully selected to reinforce this approach, combining complementary textures and tones that will weather well over time and sit comfortably alongside neighbouring properties.

The layout has been developed to support modern family life, with generous internal spaces that flow naturally into one another, alongside more private areas arranged across the upper levels. Particular attention has been given to the relationship between the house and its external spaces, with terraces and garden areas integrated into the overall design to enhance day-to-day living.

Construction commenced in January 2025 following the demolition of the existing property. The project is now well progressed on site, with the primary structure of the main dwelling established and the footprint of the associated garage clearly defined, as seen in the current construction phase. Completion is anticipated in June 2026, with Oracle Architects continuing to work closely alongside the contractor and wider consultant team to ensure the design is realised with clarity, precision, and a consistent attention to detail.
